2012 Spring Conference

Event date: 2012-04-23

Cumulative Environmental Effects: Past, Present and Future

The 2011 CPANS conference will provide a unique opportunity to learn the latest information on Alberta Oil Sands’ environmental challenges
and solutions that include government initiatives and frameworks, tailings ponds and reclamation, air quality,  water quality and quantity, climate change, outreach programs and technologies, and monitoring.

Cumulative effects are changes to the environment caused by the combination of past, present and ‘reasonably foreseeable’ future activities. The assessment and management of cumulative environmental effects present real challenges to communities, government agencies, industry, academics and consultants.

The 2012 CPANS Spring conference will provide a unique opportunity to learn the latest information on the cumulative environmental effects that include air and climate, drinking water, surface water and ground water, ecosystems and landscape ecology, pollution prevention, waste management and emergency response, pollutant fate and transport, human exposure, toxicology and risk assessment, socio-economic, assessment and management process, regulatory and policy frameworks, issues and lessons, ecosystem components and indicators, integrated environmental modeling and monitoring, and integrated earth observations.

Date: April 23 ~ April 24, 2012

Location: University of Calgary, Alberta Room, Dining Centre, 169 University Gate Northwest, Calgary, Alberta
