Past ConferencesCALPUFF/CALMET 2007, General and Advanced Modeling Courses, February 12-16 CPANS Workshop Forum/Coalbed Methane: Questions and Answers February 21 2007 Recent Advances In The Use Of Alternative Sources Of Energy: Environment And Economics 2005 Canmore Alberta This conference provided a forum for the presentation of advances in the use of alternative energy, focusing on the environmental implications and economic aspects. The trend of the future is to rely more heavily on alternative sources of energy as opposed to conventional, fossil fuel based sources. While there are obvious environmental benefits to shifting to the use of alternative energies, there are economic barriers and incentives, which must be considered. There are several regulatory directives and initiatives and technological advances in place or in progress to make this switch. Many of these were addressed with interesting and informative presentations. What's A Little Bit Of Dirt Going To Hurt Lake Winnipeg? This technical conference provided information on the impact that erosion and sediment has on the quality of Manitoba's surface water. Also addressed was government and industry initiatives to limit the impact of sediment on the surface water of Lake Winnipeg.
